I Haven't Stopped :)

I have no pictures but that doesn't mean the project is not going on... Last weekend I got more clothes in a bag for goodwill... Did some organizing too.

Next will be culling Pizzi's clothes and toys? We did some of that too. She's not as averse to the idea as I thought she would be. She was fine with selling her collection of Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House and some other books she has outgrown. She wants the money, if we sell them in the yard sale... To buy more Sonic stuff :-/

That's that. I've been veeeery busy with writing my paper on Hoarding Behaviors and now getting the ppt ready for this Thursday. Me wanna get an A :-)

The Other One

Yeah, yeah... I got rid of the Fat Burning Cleanser... It-does-not-work (big news huh)

New Achievements Of The Weekend

I must have watched at least 4 episodes of Hoarders: Buried Alive this weekend... whheeww! All in the name of research, right? My paper outline is due this Thursday.

It did inspire me too to do more than one drawer decluttering. Here are the before and after pics. Oh, and these, nothing went back in them this time (or misteriously appeared in my bathroom). That's progress I say!

* SIGH *

My family is not exactly on the same page as I.

Yesterday I found that some things from the 'let go' box made their way back into my cool uncluttered kitchen drawer - a couple of twisty straws which are almost impossible to clean. They are gone as of this morning.

Other things made their way into the bathroom to be used as "cooking show" utensils while she took her playing in the bathtub baths.

And finally, the husband didn't think one's kitchen would be complete without metal tongs.

...... :-/.......

I'll keep working on it.

Nigel Marsh: How to make work-life balance work | Video on TED.com

Not started on the little project yet. Well, I started, if you consider choosing the first place to 'tackle' a good start :-)

One of the kitchen drawers, full of stuff I never used or use mixed with some stuff I use sometimes/often. I can NEVER find what I want as fast as I need it. That's where I'm going to start.

But this post is not just about that.

I want to share this 'idea' from one of TED's speeches. It's one of the topics that have been plaguing me of late. Being in a job where I spend 9 hours of my day + roughly 1 1/2 hours commute, I feel I have no life left for the "other things", when the 'other things' are what really matter.

Very good:

A *Follower* !! I Got A Follower !!

How so cool is that.

Talking to my sister about the 'little' project, she got all pumped to do the same!

We will coordinate when possible (different lifestyles, different 'issues', different STUFF, even different COUNTRY) and she will be sending me her pictures of before and after and other stuff.

I wonder if she will be able to convince Pi to join in?

Yay!

Diminishing, Decluttering, Minimizing...

I'm not a hoarder.....

There is a big BUT here, though.

I have way way too much 'stuff'. Stuff which at times - lots of times and an increasingly growing amount of times - suffocate me. Stuff of all kinds... Clothes, Shoes, Books, Art Supplies, This, That.... A lot of it, JUNK. Emotional junk, art junk, junk junk junk. Lots of nice stuff too. Or that I perceive to be nice. But the truth is, it is weighing on me. And it's just too heavy.

I have been reading a lot about hoarding and hoarding behaviors for a paper I have to write for school and present at the end of the semester. As a consequence, I have also come across numerous blogs and websites on the subject of minimalism.

I have no plans to become a radical minimalist, but I've been thinking lately of how nice it would be if I could 'simplify'. Simplify my wardrobe, my drawers, my pockets... I am so so tired of the clutter. So tired of picking up and putting away (in crammed places).

So I will. I will use this oh so abandoned blog (because I just spend too much time and am so busy sorting and putting all the STUFF away) to jot some notes about the process of minimizing, simplifying and decluttering my life and my surroundings.

I don't even know WHERE to start! I will find a place. Or a drawer. Or something.

Good luck to me :-)
